What a great city!  To make it even better, we were here for Jazz Fest 2011! I am not sure I have ever seen so many people in one place!  Even for someone like ne who is not crazy about being in crowds, this Jazz Fest was amazing!

Vicksburg, Mississippi

I have not figured out how to put the pictures in the ordere I want them.

It is beautiful here in Vicksburg - when it is not storming!  We spent most of yesterday at the Vicksburg National Military Park.  I don't know how many acres it covers, but it is huge!  Today we went down to the riverfront area where they have 1/2 mile of hand painted murals depicting the history of Vicksburg.  Absolutely amazing!  There must be 50 different murals along the floodwall along the Mississippi River.  Right now we are closely watching the weather as we are under a tornado watch.  We have 2  tornados northeast of us.  Vehicles are pouring into the RV park we are in.  Everyone wants to get off the road.  Hopefully things will calm down tomorrow.

Staying ahead of the weather

We certainly have been staying ahead of some terrible weather!  We outran snow at The Grand Canyon, fires in Texas and tornadoes in Little Rock and Memphis.  We are in Vicksburg, Mississippi now and had a rough night last night with thunder, lightening and torrential rain.  The wind was so strong it actually rocked our 44,000 pound motorhome!  But, we are safe and still loving the journey :-)

Happy Easter everyone!  We had a wonderful Easter dinner with our friends, Frances & Maurice here in Germantown.  We have been parked in their driveway for the last 2 nights and I have to say, the accommodations here are as good as they get!  Big, beautiful, old leaf trees are everywhere.  Just a beautiful area.  Yesterday we went into downtown Memphis.  We say Sun Studio where Elvis recorded his first record.  We ate lunch at The Rendezvous where they serve the best ribs in the world, and went to The Peabody Hotel to see the ducks that live on the top of the hotel and come down the elevator and along a red carpet to a beautiful pond in the lobby where they spend their afternoons.

Little Rock, Arkansas

3 story mobile at the bookstore
Even though the weather was not cooperative, we had a fun time in Little Rock.  We took a trolley car ride around the city, visited a Native American museum, found a fantastic & charming 3-story used book store that had artwork throughout.  Very neat!  And ate lunch overlooking the Arkansas River.  We had a great time!

Rain, Rain and more Rain

We are in Little Rock, AR.  The drive from Lewisville, TX to here was misereable.  We had rain,  thunderstorms and major truck traffic.  When we arrived at the RV park in Little Rock it was raining so hard there were 3" deep puddles everwhere.  Once we got set up - both of us drenched - we sat back and had a nice glass of wine and decided it was not so bad after all....Actually we are looking out at the Arkansas River and the buildings of downtown Little Rock.  This is a first time for us to be in an "Urban" RV park.  It really is pretty neat!

Back on the road again

Alicia & Roy

We went over to Alicia & Scott's house last evening to say good-bye to the children - Roy's grandchildren!  That was tough because they are just so precious!  Certainly, we will see them again.  Later on we went out to dinner with Alicia and Scott.  Even though we know we will all be together again, it was very hard to say good-bye.

Everything is BIG in Texas

Melting hail in Roy's big hand
Under a tornado watch, we had a "little" hail storm.  But, all is well.  No hail damage to the car or the RV.

Toasted marshmallows on a gas grill! LOL
Alicia, Scott, Gaines, Avery & Keaton came over to the RV Park for a cookout yesterday.  After all the wind we have had and a crazy hail storm the other night, we could not have asked for a nicer day!  We had a great time.  This afternoon we are going to Keaton's gymnastic meet.
